Close to Chengshantou, Shendiaoshan Wild Animal Park is located in the northeast of Xixiakou village of Chengshan town, Rongcheng City. It was said that Qinshihuang (the first emperor of Qin Dynasty) once shot eagles during his visit to Chengshan. Therefore, it was named as Shendiaoshan (Eagle Mountain).
Shendiaoshan is surrounded by sea on three sides. Hills and ravines with thick woods are all over the place, which are not only beautiful scenery, but also fantastic breeding habitats for wild animals.
It is 42 kilometers from Shendiaoshan Wild Animal Park to Weihai downtown and 40 kilometers to Rongcheng downtown. The scenic spot covers an area of 3800 mu (1 hectare equals 15 mu) and consists of dozens of animal habitats including Beast Zone, Rare Animal Zone, Bird Park, Panda Pavilion, African Animal Zone, Marine Animal Zone, etc. It is the largest and the most unique open and wildlife nature reserve by sea in China.
Tourists have a chance to see animals from air, land and sea in the Shendiaoshan Wild Animal Park, in which there are over 300 species, totaling 4000 listed national first & second class protected animals.
